Israeli army says airstrikes in northern West Bank kill 9 Palestinian militants
West Bank Saturday killed nine Palestinian militants, according to Israel's army, as violence flares in the Israeli-occupied territory. The Israeli army said its forces first struck a vehicle in a rural area northwest of the city of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank early Saturday morning, killing the five occupants. All five men were later identified by Hamas as militants belonging to the group, including one who was a local commander.

Tension mounts afresh in Bangladesh as student movement leaders refuse PM Hasina's call for dialogue
Sheikh Hasina's invitation for talks while protesters laid siege on major streets in the capital, days after more than 200 people died in anti-quota protests. Bangladesh recently witnessed violent clashes between the police and mostly student protesters demanding an end to a controversial quota system that reserved 30 per cent of government jobs for relatives of veterans who fought in Bangladesh's War of Independence in 1971. Witnesses said students protesting blocked major roads of Dhaka causing traffic snarls while officials said security forces were ordered to keep intensified vigil as protesters started rallying at different city points. On Friday, Prime Minister Hasina urged the agitating students to meet at her Ganabhaban official residence for talks to end the violence over the quota system in government jobs.

White goods makers wish you a long (appliance) life
Consumer durables makers in India are locked in a warranty war. Brands such as LG, Samsung, Haier, Godrej, Voltas Beko and Panasonic are competing to offer the best protection for refrigerators, air-conditioners, microwave ovens and washing machines. Consumers, mostly those above the age of 35, are readily taking up these offers, potentially boosting sales, say retailers. Brands are offering warranties of up to 10 years on the main component, such as the compressor of an AC or refrigerator, and up to 20 years on the motor of a washing machine or dishwasher, even referring to them as 'lifetime' assurance.

Electronics industry needs to share production data for policy making: Meity official
electronics industry to share production statistics for policy formulation, a Meity official said on Friday. The government has been sharing electronics production data in the country based on estimates of industry bodies, especially the India Electronics and Cellular Association. «We don't have any kinds of production data. That's very important. When we formulate policy, we need to know how much we are producing and what we are producing. So that we actually know the exact figure. We have DGIS, where we can get import data and export data. Industry has to support the government by sharing the data,» Meity Scientists G and Group Coordinator Asha Nangia said. She was speaking at an event organised by CII in collaboration with ICEA on Building a Resilient Supply Chain for Electronics and Semiconductor Industry.

US will lose future war against China, Russia, says Defense Strategy Commission. Here is report in detail
Russia and China, reports the 'Daily Express US'. It has also been said that the US military may lose a future war against the arch-rivals if considerable investment is not made in the defense sector. The report has made it clear that major changes and significant investments are needed now and the country should not wait for the next Pearl Harbor or 9/11. The Imperial Japanese Navy conducted a surprise aerial assault on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The unprovoked attack sucked the US into World War II, and it immediately declared war on Japan.

Israel claims killing Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukur accused of Majdal Shams attack and 1983 Beirut bombing
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said the target of the strike, Fouad Shukur, was behind the Saturday rocket attack on the town of Majdal Shams that killed 12 young people in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights of Syria.Hezbollah, which denied it was behind the Majdal Shams attack, didn't confirm that Shukur was the target of Tuesday's airstrike or that he was killed. If Israel's claim proves true, Shukur would be the most senior Hezbollah commander to be killed since 2016, when Mustafa Badreddine, the group's military commander in Syria, died in an explosion in the Syrian capital of Damascus. The Israeli military said that Shukur had directed Hezbollah's attacks on Israel since October 8, after the Israel-Hamas war erupted, and that he was also involved in “the killing of numerous Israelis and foreign nationals over the years." It said Shukur was responsible for the majority of Hezbollah's most advanced weaponry, including guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range rockets and UAVs.The 62-year-old, secretive Shukur was in charge of Hezbollah's forces in southern Lebanon along the border with Israel as well as being a top official in the group's missile program. He had been a close aide to Hezbollah's top military chief, Imad Mughniyeh, who was assassinated in 2008 by a car bomb in Damascus.
