Anshul Saigal identifies 5 sectors with significant profit potential
«If you are taking a three-five-year view, I think that even in capital goods and manufacturing, there are some really lucrative opportunities which have really not done as well as the broader capital goods and manufacturing space and that is where, again, there will be money on the table and you can make substantial moneys from here in the next two to three years,» says Anshul Saigal, Founder, Saigal Capital. What should one do simple? Which are the ideas where you think big money could be made? Which are the stocks which you think one should completely avoid, whether it is because of business risk or valuation risk? Anshul Saigal: I can tell you where I am an investor and where I see opportunity. I can tell you that rural economy is at the cusp of a turn and while we have had a raging bull market, stocks which are leveraged to the rural economy, discretionary rural economy, those are half from their all-time highs, so that segment has been a complete laggard because the broad market has been weak.

North Korea says deal between Putin and Kim requires immediate military assistance in event of war
North Korea reached by their leaders requires the countries to use all available means to provide immediate military assistance in the event of war, North Korean state media said. The North's official Korean Central News Agency on Thursday reported the language of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement reached by its leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Pyongyang on Wednesday. The agency said Article 4 of the agreement states that if one of the countries gets invaded and is pushed into a state of war, the other must deploy «all means at its disposal without delay» to provide «military and other assistance.» The deal could mark the strongest connection between Moscow and Pyongyang since the end of the Cold War. Both Kim and Putin described it as a major upgrade of their relations, covering security, trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties.

Cold War 2: Do not let it spark off a nuclear arms race
The deadly stockpiles of nuclear weapons built by Cold War adversaries Russia and the US gave the ‘MAD’ doctrine of ‘Mutually Assured Destruction’ a literal ring. With thousands of nukes each, both had enough to destroy the planet many times over. Could today’s geopolitical divide between a China-led bloc and the US-led West imperil the world with another arms race being pushed beyond the limits of reason by its force of rivalry? According to the latest report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), a think-tank, all nine nuclear-armed countries—the US, Russia, UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel—modernized their arsenals in 2023, while some deployed new weapon systems.

US wants to avoid greater war along Lebanon-Israel border: Special envoy to Joe Biden
Hezbollah movement, US envoy Amos Hochstein said on Tuesday, following an escalation in cross-border fire between the foes along Lebanon's southern frontier. Iran-backed Hezbollah has been trading fire with Israel for the last eight months in parallel with the Gaza war. Last week, the group fired the largest volleys of rockets and drones of the hostilities so far at Israeli military sites, after an Israeli strike killed the most senior commander yet. Hochstein, special envoy to US President Joe Biden, said he had been dispatched to Lebanon immediately following a brief trip to Israel because the situation was serious. «We have seen an escalation over the last few weeks. And what President Biden wants to do is avoid a further escalation to a greater war,» Hochstein said on Tuesday.
