Election Opinion wellness Photos Justice performer Courts Third eye: J&K's new buzzword, goodbye my captain & thinking on her feet
Transaction of Business Rules, also known as 'TBR', is the buzzword these days in Jammu and Kashmir's secretariat and other government offices, as there is a lack of clarity on the powers of the elected government in the Union Territory, as well as confusion about the processes and prioritisation of file movement between the chief minister's office and the Lieutenant Governor's Raj Bhavan. Due to the lack of clarity on TBR, a large number of files continue to circulate in the workplace. And a slew of officials keeps using the term as if it were some big mystery, especially when they don't want to perform the work or be held accountable for any given file.

markets Digital Strategy Remark Election wellness BJP polarising with 'batenge toh katenge', 'vote jihad', 'dharmyudh' but people wise: Sachin Pilot
Sachin Pilot on Sunday slammed the BJP for terms like 'vote jihad' and 'dharmyudh' as well as the 'batenge toh katenge' slogan but asserted people are wise and will not succumb to such attempts to polarise. Addressing a press conference, the former Rajasthan deputy chief minister also claimed the BJP had brought forward smaller parties to eat into Maha Vikas Aghadi votes but this plan would fail. Asserting that a slogan like 'batenge toh katenge' should not be uttered by someone like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is occupying a constitutional post, Pilot said one should instead use 'padhoge toh badhoge' (education will bring progress). Speaking on 'vote jihad', he said, «The language used by Yogiji and Devendra Fadnavisji is unwarranted. To what extent would you do politics on the basis of religion? In Ayodhya, where Ram Temple was built, the BJP lost the Lok Sabha polls. Polarisation is happening but people are wise and understand.»

markets COST UPS Citi Provident wellness CNG retailers want price hike, govt wants to see cost
City gas companies like Indraprastha Gas Ltd and Adani Total Gas Ltd are mulling an increase in CNG prices after supplies of cheaper input gas was cut for the second time in a month, but the government officials say the retailers must give a cost breakup to justify the hike. The government, with effect from November 16, cut supplies of low-priced natural gas coming from old fields to city gas retailers by up to 20 per cent. This reduction came on the back of a 21 per cent reduction on October 16. City gas retailers IGL, which retails CNG in national capital and adjoining cities, Mahanagar Gas Ltd that does the same in Mumbai, and Adani Total Gas Ltd which operates in Gujarat and elsewhere, in regulatory filings flagged profitability concerns due to supply cut and hinted at price hike. Officials in the ministry of petroleum and natural gas however are unimpressed as they feel the retailers operate on «hefty» margins and can easily absorb the additional cost they may have to incur on replacing the lost volumes with slighted higher priced gas from new wells or imported LNG.

Art Death wellness show dance stars Stand apart from Bimbo sisterhood
Shalini Passi, the season's new entry from Delhi has become the unexpected star of reality TV show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives (FLBW). Since its release in mid-October, articles have been devoted to cuts of her blouses. Even Kapil Sharma gushes over her on his show, calling her a 'machhli'. In this post-shame world of reality TV, where everyone is letting it all hang out — from Victoria Beckham's WAG lifestyle to Dubai Bling's idle elite — it's intriguing to find someone who stands out by holding on to something resembling values. Passi's debut sees her descending a marble staircase in couture, dressed as Cleopatra no less, referencing ancient Egyptian iconography by holding daggers — even though she may not know that Cleopatra is typically shown with daggers only in death. The detail is telling: Passi resists the 'lady who lunches' label, though she may well be one. She trains in dance and singing, collects art, and even dabbles in painting — though her portrait of journalist Ruchika Mehta didn't quite resemble its subject. Perhaps she was going for something else.
