Rakesh Gangwal, co-founder of InterGlobe Aviation, plans to sell shares worth up to $804 million in the company through a block deal on Thursday. The floor price has been set at ₹4,593 per share, reflecting a 5.5% discount to Wednesday's closing price of ₹4,859. Gangwal, along with his wife Shobha Gangwal and their family trust — who are all part of the promoter group — held nearly a 34% stake in the airline as of December last year.

Sebi has proposed to revamp rules for merchant bankers handling public issues, by increasing the net worth requirement 10- times to ₹50 crore from ₹5 crore, introduction of minimum liquid net worth and barred them from holding securities in the issuer company. «This may lead to conflict of interest and compromised due diligence,» Sebi said in a discussion paper. As on July 31, there are 224 merchant bankers registered with Sebi. Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday granted default bail to 50 accused in a case related to the Haldwani violence in February on the ground that no charge sheet was filed even after 90 days of the incident. On February 8 this year, violence erupted in Banbhoolpura area of Haldwani after the authorities demolished encroachments including a madrasa and a place meant for offering namaz within its precincts.

Bank of India has frozen all accounts of state-run telecom company MTNL for non-payment of dues, a regulatory filing said on Wednesday. Union Bank of India informed the company on August 21 about freezing of all its accounts over non-payment of loans, debt-ridden MTNL said. «This is to inform you that Union Bank of India vide its Letter… dated August 21, 2024 has informed MTNL that its account has slipped to NPA with effect from August 12, 2024 due to which all accounts of MTNL with Union Bank of India have been freezed automatically,» MTNL said. Earlier this month, MTNL informed stock exchanges that it has defaulted on bank loan payments worth Rs 422.05 crore.

Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to hold third batch of ascending e-auctions for 730 channels in 234 new cities under Private FM Radio Phase III Policy. The estimated reserve price has been pegged at Rs 784.87 crore. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said here that the Cabinet also approved a proposal to charge an annual license fee (ALF) of FM channel as four per cent of gross revenue excluding GST. This will be applicable for 234 new cities / towns. The private FM radio roll out in 234 new cities and towns will fulfil the unmet demand for FM radio in these areas which still remain uncovered by private FM radio broadcasting and bring new and local content in mother tongue, an official statement said.
