New Delhi: Coal India Ltd has removed the limit on the quantity purchased by power producers and allowed supply beyond their annual contracted volume. The company has done away with an earlier provision which allowed coal supplies up to a maximum of 120% of the contracted quantity to power plants, it said on Tuesday. Now, the simplification would benefit the power plants which prefer to lift higher quantities of coal beyond their stipulated contracted quantity, it said.

Ipca Laboratories on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit increased 18 per cent to Rs 192 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024 aided by robust sales in the domestic market. The drug firm had reported a net profit of Rs 163 crore for the April-June period of last fiscal. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 2,093 crore for the April-June quarter, as compared to Rs 1,585 crore in the year-ago period, Ipca Laboratories said in a regulatory filing.

Fresh Bus on Tuesday said it has raised USD 10.5 million (about Rs 87.5 crore) in a Series A funding round led by early-stage transportation-focused VC fund Maniv. The funding round also saw participation from Shell Ventures, Alteria Capital, and existing investor Riverwalk Holdings, Fresh Bus said. The latest capital will be deployed for scaling up operations, enhancing technological capabilities, and strengthening the strategic team at the platform to drive growth, besides financing its growing fleet, it added. The company said it has so far raised around Rs 110 crore in three funding rounds, including two seed funding rounds last year.

Hindalco Industries on Tuesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,074 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2024, a 25% jump from Rs 2,454 crore reported by the company in the year ago period. The revenue from operations for the reporting quarter stood at Rs 57,013 crore, which was up by 7.6% from Rs 52,991 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Although there has been improvement—which is reflected by the processing of 1.4 million visas for Indians in 2023, an all-time high, and a 75 per cent reduction in visitor visa appointment wait times—the issue persists. Wait times for B1/B2 visa vary significantly across U.S. consulates in India. In Calcutta, the U.S. consulate offers the shortest visa wait time of 24 calendar days. In contrast, the wait time in Hyderabad is 407 calendar days, while in Delhi, it extends to 386 calendar days. The consulate in Bombay has a wait time of 422 calendar days, and in Chennai, applicants face the longest wait, which is 477 calendar days.
