Army opens fire on suspected infiltrators along LoC in J-K, search operations underway
Army troops opened fire after noticing the movement of two groups of infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor and Sunderbani sectors of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Monday, officials said. Though there was no exchange of fire, a massive search operation is underway in both areas to ensure that there is no infiltration from across the border, they said. Alert Army troops fired after picking up suspicious movement of three to four infiltrators in a forward area in the Battal sector of Akhnoor on the outskirts of Jammu around 1.30 am, the officials said. The area was illuminated with flares and put under surveillance through drones with reinforcements mobilised to lay a tight cordon. A search operation was launched at first light, they said.

Elon Musk says Federal Reserve foolish not to have cut interest rates
Elon Musk said on Sunday the Federal Reserve needs to cut interest rates and that it was foolish for the U.S. central bank not to have done so already. Musk's comment, which was made in response to a post on the social media site X, followed a run of weak data last week that has sparked worries the Fed may have left interest rates elevated for too long, resulting in damage to the economy.

IDBI Bank sells distressed Rs 6151 cr portfolio to Omkara ARC
IDBI Bank is selling its Rs 6,151 crore legacy stressed asset portfolio to Omkara Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) in a move that will help the government fetch an improved valuation for the proposed stake sale in the lender, people with knowledge of the matter told ET. At inter-se bidding held on Saturday (August 3), Omkara ARC gave the highest offer of Rs 652 crore, outbidding government-promoted National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL). For IDBI Bank, the distressed portfolio sale equates to a recovery of 10.5%, which will be reflected in its second-quarter earnings. “The sale of the stressed portfolio will have a significant positive impact on IDBI Bank’s valuation since potential bidders were wary of acquiring a bank with legacy loans, which the bank itself failed to resolve for over two decades,” said an advisor involved in the transaction who did not want to be named.
