drone attack overnight damaged critical infrastructure in the central Ukrainian region of Vinnytsia, a local official said on Saturday. The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 24 out of 29 Shahed-type drones launched by Russia in the overnight attack over nine regions. Russian forces also launched two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and two Kh-31 missiles, the air force said. Kherson regional governor Oleksander Prokudin said air defence shot down five drones over his region on Saturday. National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against two accused persons in a case related to the arrest of two Maoist cadres of Kuyemari area committee of proscribed terrorist organisation — CPI (Maoist) — while carrying arms and explosives to attack the security forces. The accused persons have been identified as Vinod Awalam and Ashu Korsa. The chargesheet was filed before the Special Court, Jagdalpur, under various sections of Indian Penal Code, Arms Act, Explosives Substances Act and UA(P) Act. Both the accused persons are members of CPI (Maoist) and have been found to be involved in the conspiracy of carrying out attacks on security forces. The duo were apprehended along with weapons and other incriminating material from Mujalgondi village in Kanker district.

The matter came to light through a news report after a complaint was filed with police by a programmer in the department of information technology and communication, Manohar Lal, in Sanchore, they said.

The court, which on Friday dismissed Kumar's petition that claimed his arrest was illegal, said in its written judgment that there was no merit in his plea. Kumar, currently in judicial custody, allegedly assaulted Maliwal at Kejriwal's official residence on May 13. He was arrested by the Delhi Police on May 18. In his plea, Kumar had sought a direction to declare his arrest as illegal and in gross violation of the provisions of section 41A (notice of appearance before police officer) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and against the mandate of the law.

Delhi High Court has upheld an order accepting cancellation report filed by the police in a complaint filed against BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain alleging rape and criminal intimidation. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said there was no infirmity in the order passed by the additional sessions judge (ASJ) and dismissed the revision petition filed by the complainant challenging the December 2023 order. «In the present case, the overwhelming independent ocular, documentary and scientific evidence collected during the investigations, whereby the presence of the respondent no.2 (Hussain) and complainant on the date of the alleged incident at the place of alleged incident… is completely ruled out, the possibility of the commission of alleged offence is rendered zilch. »Hence, the conclusion of the ASJ in accepting the cancellation report has to be upheld. In view of the foregoing discussions, there is no infirmity in the impugned order dated December 16, 2023 and the revision petition is hereby dismissed," the high court said in the order which was passed on Friday and made available on Saturday.
