Birla unit acquires ARMC IVF Fertility Centre to foray into South Indian market
C K Birla Group, on Wednesday said it has forayed into the South Indian market with the acquisition of ARMC IVF Fertility Centre for an undisclosed amount. Currently, Birla Fertility & IVF operates 30 centres and with the acquisition, it has expanded its presence across Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, by adding seven more centres and taking the total to 37 outlets across the country. «ARMC IVF and its Founder and Medical Director, Dr KU Kunjimoideen, have served the patients in the southern region with the highest level of fertility care, and through this partnership, we will continue to uphold this commitment,» Avanti Birla, Founder, Birla Fertility & IVF, C K Birla Healthcare, said in a statement. The company plans to expand its footprint to 100 clinics with an investment of over Rs 500 crore over the next-3-4 years.

Reliance acquires step-down subsidiary for Rs 314 cr
Reliance Industries Ltd on Wednesday said it has acquired a step-down subsidiary engaged in the manufacture of petrochemicals and hydrogen, for Rs 314.48 crore. In a stock exchange filing, the firm said Reliance Chemicals and Materials Ltd (RCML) is a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of the Company through Reliance Projects & Property Management Services Ltd (RPPMSL). «It is proposed to make RCML a direct wholly owned subsidiary and hence, the company has today, at around 3:15 p.m., acquired a 100 per cent equity stake of RCML from RPPMSL for an aggregate consideration of Rs 314.48 crore,» it said. RCML was incorporated in India on November 2, 2022, to undertake the business of manufacturing petrochemicals, vinyls, hydrogen & its derivatives, rare and industrial gases, bio-energy products and carbon fibre.

Govt soon to finalise framework of state mining index to ensure ease of biz: Mines secretary
government is likely to soon finalise a framework for a state mining index which would serve as a tool for stakeholders and ensure ease of doing mining business, an official said on Wednesday. A state mining index would boost cooperative federalism as well as competition among states, Mines secretary V L Kantha Rao said at a day-long workshop on State Mining Index here. Principal secretaries, directors and other officials from 26 states participated in the workshop to discuss and finalise the indicators and sub-indicators of performance which form part of the index framework and methodology. Post consultations and feedback from states, a framework of the state mining index will be finalized and released in July 2024 for actual ranking to take place in April next year, Kantha Rao said.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to lift restrictions on Bank of Baroda's Bob World app with immediate effect, the bank said in the exchange filing. The bank said, «We wish to inform that the RBI conveyed to the Bank its decision to lift the restrictions on Bob World with immediate effect, as such the bank is free to onboard customers through Bob World application in accordance with the applicable guidelines and extant laws /regulations.» «The Bank will now resume onboarding new customers in the Bob World application. The Bank remains committed to ensure adherence and compliance of regulatory guidelines,» the filing said.

EC announces election to four seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council
MUMBAI: The biennial election to four seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on June 10, the Election Commission of India announced on Wednesday. Counting of votes will take place on June 13, an official release said here. The six-year tenure of the incumbent Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) will end on July 7. Of the seats going to polls, Mumbai teachers' and Mumbai graduates' constituencies are currently represented by Kapil Patil (Lok Bharati) and Vilas Potnis (Shiv Sena (UBT)).

Azad said this after his Delhi-Srinagar Air India Express flight got cancelled. «I was supposed to leave in the morning. But I am now leaving on an IndiGo flight after sitting here for 3-4 hours...If the flights were cancelled, they should have informed us in the morning itself. Why did they fool everyone?...Air India should be shut...Air India's basic culture is bad, nothing will become of it,» Azad was quoted as saying by ANI.

Polaris gets new smart metering project worth Rs 2,246 cr in West Bengal
Energy solutions provider Polaris on Wednesday said it has secured a contract worth Rs 2,246 crore to install 2.2 million smart meters in West Bengal. «With this order, Polaris has successfully closed orders over Rs 7,700 crore across the geographies of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Manipur, Bihar and Ladakh,» the company said in a statement. The new order worth Rs 2,246 crore in West Bengal is for installation of 2.2 million smart meters in the state. Polaris Smart Metering will supply, commission, install and maintain smart meters for consumers and system metering across the consumer base in these important clusters for the next 10 years. These smart meters will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabling prepaid billing, real-time energy monitoring, accurate metering, and improved grid management capabilities.

RBI asks NBFCs to stick to loan cash payout limit of Rs 20,000
non-bank finance companies (NBFC) to strictly adhere to a cap of 20,000 rupees ($240) in cash loans, according to a letter seen by Reuters and two people aware of the development, in a bid to deter cash transactions. «Please refer to provisions of Section 269SS of Income Tax Act, 1961, which stipulates that no individual can receive more than 20,000 rupees as loan amount in cash,» the letter showed. «Consequently, no NBFC should disburse loan amount in excess of 20,000 rupees in cash.»

Hero MotoCorp Q4 Results: PAT jumps 18% YoY to Rs 1,016 crore; dividend declared at Rs 40 per share
Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp on Wednesday reported a standalone net profit of Rs 1,016.05 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, which was up by over 18% versus Rs 858.93 crore reported by the company in the year-ago period. The profit was broadly in line with the Street's estimates of Rs 1,026 crore. The standalone revenue from operations stood at Rs 9,519 crore for the reported quarter, 14.6% higher over Rs 8,306.78 crore reported in the corresponding period of the last financial year.
