Microsoft Corporation recently acquired 48 acres of land in Hyderabad for a deal valued at approximately Rs 267 crore. The property was purchased from the land aggregator, Sai Balaji Developers, located in Ranga Reddy district, as per the document shared by Propstack, a data analytics firm. «Microsoft has big plans to expand its data centre business and will be developing one of the biggest data centres in the region. The property is located about forty kilometres from the main city of Hyderabad, and the company paid a premium on the land,» said a person aware of the deal.

New Delhi: India on Monday permitted export of 14,000 million tonnes of non-basmati white rice to Mauritius, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification. “The export of 14,000 MT of Non-Basmati White Rice to Mauritius has been permitted through National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL),” the DGFT said. In July 2023, the government had prohibited the export of non-basmati white rice but it had said exports would be allowed on the basis of permission granted to other countries to meet their food security needs and based on requests from those countries.

US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall rode on an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Controlled F-16 Fighter Jet over the Californian Desert. It was only last month that Kendall made an announcement before the US Senate Appropriation Committee's defense panel that he intended to fly this aircraft controlled by autonomous systems powered by AI. He flew to the Edwards Air Force Base, as per a report on Fox News. The F-16 was controlled by AI called Vista and it flew at a speed of over 550mph. There were also two other F-16’s which flew besides this AI controlled jet which were piloted by air force pilots. The three aircrafts maneuvered and performed all other actions which are typical of a fighter aircraft.

Indian Railways has loaded 128.29 million tonnes (MT) freight during April 2024. This is 1.46% higher than the 126.45 MT freight loading for April 2023. With this, the national transporter has clocked the 55th straight month of highest ever freight loading, beginning October 2020. Freight revenue earnings during the month under review stood at Rs 14,075.14 crore, up from Rs 13,893.27 crore in April 2023. Railways loaded of 57.64 MT in Coal, 14.88 MT in Iron Ore, 5.24 MT in Pig Iron and Finished Steel, 6.79 MT in Cement, 4.75 MT in Clinker, 3.85 MT in Foodgrains, 4.01 MT in Fertilizers, 4.16 MT in Mineral Oil, 6.57 MT in Containers and 9.54 MT in Balance Other Goods during April 2024. For the full fiscal ending March 2024, Indian Railways loaded 1591 MT freight up from 1512 MT in the preceding fiscal. Records of railway electrification, new lines, and track replacement were also made during the fiscal 2023-24. Within goods loading, the Railways ferried 787.61 MT of Coal, 180.95 MT of Iron ore, 153.80 MT of Cement, and 114.36 MT as Balance Other Goods for the full fiscal 2023-24.

Supreme Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Umar Ansari, son of gangster-politician the late Mukhtar Ansari, in a case of alleged violation of the model code of conduct during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and PK Mishra asked Umar Ansari to appear before the trial court which will enlarge him on bail. During the hearing, senior advocate Garima Prashad, appearing for the Uttar Pradesh government, said Ansari has not been appearing before the trial court in the case. She said it is a case of inciting people in a congregation and the co-accused, who appeared before the trial court, have got regular bail.
