In reality, the RMS Titanic, which was a British ocean liner back in 1912, sank after hitting an iceberg, enroute New York from Southampton, England and was considered one of the biggest maritime accidents of all time after around 1,500 passengers in the ship died. Now, the new edition of the Titanic is in the works, funded by an Australian business tycoon by the name of Clive Palmer and will have no shortage of lifeboats onboard so that the issue of scrambling to stay afloat does not arise in the case of an untoward incident involving this new ship, according to a Daily Star report.

Lakhimpur spread across Upper Assam and North bank of Brahmaputra will go to the polls on Friday. This is the first election in Assam after the delimitation exercise of last year during which constituency boundaries were redrawn after 27 years and the state's political landscape changed. In Lakhimpur, it is a direct fight between the BJP and Congress. BJP MP Pradan Baruah, former Congress MLA, is seeking a third consecutive term from the seat against the Congress candidate Uday Shankar Hazarika. A total of nine contestants are in the fray from Lakhimpur constituency where recurring annual floods is an issue among the voters. In Sonitpur, the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Rishiraj Kaundinya while the Congress has nominated Prem Lal Ganju, despite being members of the INDIA bloc. The BJP has fielded its former state unit president and former minister Ranjit Dutta from the seat.

Narendra Modi on Tuesday attacked the opposition over spreading misinformation about the Constitution and playing politics over it. While speaking in Bihar's Gaya, Modi reiterated his commitment for the constitution of the country and said, «People ask me why I care so much for the poor, the Dalits. I do so because I have risen from among them. I therefore feel indebted to this social class. I also feel indebted towards the Constitution framed by Babasaheb Ambedkar which helped me reach where I am.» Modi also added that 2025 is the 75th year of the Indian Constitution and the government will celebrate it on a similar scale as 75 years of Independence.

Amit Shah on Tuesday said the BJP strives to win hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as the party is in no hurry to see lotus bloom in the valley. Shah, while addressing an election rally in Jammu Lok Sabha constituency to campaign for BJP candidate Jugal Kishore, said that the regional parties are propagating the perception that BJP is out to occupy Kashmir, which is not correct. He added that assembly elections in J&K would be held within the Supreme Court deadline of September this year. «We are not among the occupiers, we are among those who win hearts. You don't have to worry. I want to tell the electorate of the valley that BJP has no urgency. When we get your love, lotus will bloom in the valley on its own as well,» said Shah.

The consumer space also saw 88 PE deals, highest in five quarters by volume. However, the consumer industry reported a decline in M&A activity with volumes declining to 14 deals from 17 a year ago although the value surged to $925 million from $79 million in 2023. «This is potentially an outcome of the impending elections leading the businesses to adopt a cautious approach, coupled with sluggishness in consumer spending, leading to slow revenue growth. However, it evidenced substantial increase in terms of deal value, primarily driven by Tata Consumer Goods' acquisition of Capital Foods valued at $615 million and Organic India valued at $229 million. Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes to power at the Centre, there will be «no Constitution, no election in future and the federal structure will cease to exist». Banerjee was speaking at a public rally in Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha constituency's Moynaguri. «If Modi comes to power, there will be no election in future in the name of One Nation-One poll. Federal structure will not exist — there will be one nation, one poll, one man, one code and one food,» Banerjee lashed out. Banerjee also claimed that BJP will not cross the 200-seat mark in the country as opposed to what the BJP leadership claims that it will cross 400 seats. «In Bengal, we will win while Stalin will win in Tamil Nadu and Akhilesh will win in Uttar Pradesh.

Chhattisgarh police have said. Three security personnel, including those from the Border Security Forces (BSF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG), suffered injuries in the gun battle. A large number of weapons were recovered from the spot, the state police said. «An encounter broke out between security forces and the Naxals. So far, 29 bodies of Naxals have been recovered from an encounter site in Chhotebethiya of Kanker. A large number of weapons have been recovered. Three jawans have been injured. A search operation is underway. This is one of the biggest anti-Naxal operations in the area. The operation was launched after information of the presence of senior Naxals Shankar, Lalita and Raju was received by the security forces,» said Inspector General of Police (Bastar) PP Sundarraj. All three are believed to have been killed in the encounter. After the anti-Naxal operations, Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister and home minister Vijay Sharma said, «The government is ready to talk and find a solution to the Naxal problem. One cannot imagine there are places in the Naxal stronghold where there is no water or electricity supply.» He lauded the security forces for the operation and said this has nothing to do with the upcoming polls.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) said on Tuesday it has cleared the acquisition of additional stake in Thyssenkrupp Industries India by Protos Engineering Company and Paharpur Cooling Towers. Thyssenkrupp Industries India mainly provides engineering, procurement and construction services to execute turnkey projects in various industries and after-sales services, the antitrust regulator said in a statement. Protos acts as an agent for companies that manufacture equipment, machinery and raw materials in sectors, including steel, cement and sugar. It is also the sole selling agent of Thyssenkrupp Industries India.

intercepted a suspicious dhow on Monday and apprehended 940 Kg narcotics from it. The operation, executed with precision by the ship's specialist boarding teams and MARCOs (Marine Commandos), resulted in the confiscation of a staggering 940 kilograms of contraband narcotics. The seized drugs, indicative of illicit trafficking activities in the region, are being disposed of in accordance with the established procedures outlined in the CMF (Combined Maritime Forces) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Rekha Jhunjhunwala, who inherited the portfolio of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has made some significant changes to the investments during the quarter ended March. Jhunjhunwala, who owned about 1.8% stake in recently listed Tata Communications towards the end of December quarter, pared the stake in the company by 0.3%, bringing the overall holding to 1.6% at the end of March quarter.

Aditya Birla Capital Ltd (ABCL), the non banking finance company (NBFC) of the $65 billion cement to fashion group, plans to double its customer base in the next three years riding on a new digital application which will allow the company to lend, sell insurance and also offer payment solutions to customers. The financial services company expects to add 30 million new customers in the next three years, tapping dealers, vendors, distributors besides retail customers in its ecosystem, doubling its 35 million customer base currently. Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said the cement to fashion group will tap the 250 million customers across the group, its 2.5 lakh MSME partners and also its 1.87 lakh workforce as it seeks to expand its financial business through the Aditya Birla Capital Digital (ABCD) application housed under a wholly owned subsidiary of ABCL. ABCD will be a separate entity at an arms length basis acting like a direct selling agent of ABCL for which it will earn fees.
