An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

BJP on Thursday accused Lok Sabha's Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of colluding with 'anti-India international forces'. The ruling party questioned him on a Mediapart (French outlet) report about news portal Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). In the Lok Sabha, BJP's Nishikant Dubey alleged that protests in Parliament were being held at the behest of some global outfits.

FBI is warning people against texting between iPhones and Androids due to ongoing cyberattacks. The agency says messages sent from iPhone to Android and vice versa can be intercepted by hackers, the Mirror reported. The warning came days after reports of a large-scale Chinese espionage campaign in which phone data of over million Americans are said to have been scooped up by the hackers including that of a cabinet secretary and a White House Homeland Security Adviser. Hackers have reportedly accessed call and text metadata, and in some cases, message content too.

Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu in a written reply to the Lok Sabha said, Ireland invested USD 83.84 million, Singapore USD 48.45 million, Mauritius USD 41.65 million, the United States USD 38.60 million, Australia USD 20.18 million, and Mexico USD 9.59 million in April-September FY25. In FY24, FDI in food processing was USD 608.31 million.

The breakdown equated to tax of Rs 76,96,963, interest of Rs 91,21,217 and a penalty of Rs 76,96,963. The company said there is no impact on financials, operations or other activities of the Company. It further said that the demand is not maintainable. The Company is the process of evaluating suitable course of action against the order.

Devendra Fadnavis will once again take over as chief minister of Maharashtra. On Wednesday morning, Fadnavis was unanimously elected as the legislative party leader at a BJP meeting at the state legislature, paving the way for him to be the chief minister of the state a third time. Fadnavis will be sworn in on Thursday. Fadnavis' name was proposed by MLAs Chandrakant Patil and Sudhir Mungantiwar and seconded by MLC Pankaja Munde and other members. Sukhbir Singh Badal, had allegiance to a banned Khalistani outfit and was facing 21 criminal cases, registered during 1980-90, at the peak of the Khalistan movement, the Punjab Police has said. The shooter, identified as Narain Singh Chaura (68), is a former member of banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a Khalistani terrorist organisation. Punjab Special DGP (Law & Order) Arpit Shukla said that Chaura has more than 21 criminal cases registered against him. Police is interrogating him and questioning him to find out whether more people or any pro-Khalistan elements from abroad are involved in the conspiracy, he added. He was also involved in the 2004 Burail jailbreak case. He helped terrorists Jagtar Singh Hawara, Paramjit Singh Bheora and two others escape from prison, Shukla added. He was released on bail and has been acquitted in a few cases. Shukla added that a detailed security deployment was in place, with 175 police personnel in plain clothes on duty, led by an AIG-level officer. He credited the timely intervention of the police personnel, including Rashpal Singh, who identified Chaura and followed him as he attempted to fire at Badal.

Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj is undertaking several measures, including the use of community radio, to spread awareness against the "Sarpanch Pati" system, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The «Sarpanch Pati» system is a practice in which the husband of an elected woman sarpanch wields the actual power. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj SP Singh Baghel said various modes of information, education and communication activities, media engagement, conferences, seminars, training programmes, screening of public service awareness films, broadcasting of programmes through community radio were being done to spread awareness on issues such as the «Sarpanch Pati» system.

«For UPI Lite, the enhanced limits shall be Rs 1,000 per transaction with Rs 5,000 being the total limit. Replenishment of used limit shall be allowed only in online mode with AFA,» said the central bank in a statement. UPI Lite is a wallet that allows users to make small-value transactions without using a UPI PIN. Currently, UPI Lite users have to manually reload their wallet balance from their bank account to continue making payments. However, with the new auto-top-up feature, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) aims to streamline this process, eliminating the need for manual reloading.

FSSAI has reclassified packaged drinking water and mineral water as a high-risk food category, mandating stricter regulatory controls and annual facility inspections. The move, effective immediately following an order dated November 29, requires manufacturers to undergo mandatory third-party food safety audits and comply with enhanced quality standards. Central licence holders in this category must now submit to annual inspections aimed at mitigating potential health risks associated with packaged water production. The reclassification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) follows recent amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011, which previously removed mandatory BIS certification requirements for certain food products.
