Thanks to what can only be called a miracle, Bhim Singh is finally back home. The frail man found tied to a tree at an animal farm in Jaisalmer is the same nine-year-old boy who was kidnapped from an auto 30 years ago.
In September 1993, Bhim’s family received a chilling ransom call after he was snatched, but after that, there was silence. Police searches led to dead ends, and the boy seemed to vanish into thin air. reported TOI. His family moved on, though the unanswered questions lingered. Would they ever know what happened to their son?
Bhim had been taken by an auto gang and sold to a herder in Rajasthan, where he spent the next three decades rearing sheep and goats, living in shackles, and surviving on a meagre diet. His identity—‘Raju,’ a nickname given by his family—had faded over the years, but a tattoo and a mole on his right leg remained his only connection to a past he couldn’t remember, according to the TOI report.
The family had given up hope, but they never moved back to Dadri after Bhim’s father, Tularam, retired.
