Aanvi Kamdar, a 27-year-old chartered accountant working in Deloitte and social media influencer from Malad, died after falling 350 feet from a hillock near the Kumbhe waterfall while filming a reel. She was part of a seven-member group of picnickers who alerted authorities following her fall. Despite a six-hour rescue operation, Kamdar was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Kamdar slipped while filming near the waterfall. The rescue operation, hampered by inclement weather, involved multiple teams. Rescuer Shantanu Kuveskar stated, «She fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks around 300ft into the valley and couldn't be spotted initially. She was sent up using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes. Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 assisted atop the hillock.»
Kuveskar added that Kamdar was responsive during the rescue and on her way to the hospital, but she was on ventilator support.
Aanvi Kamdar was a chartered accountant and had worked at Deloitte, an IT/Technology consulting company.
Known for her travel content, Kamdar had over 256,000 followers on Instagram.
Her posts often highlighted monsoon tourism and unique travel experiences.
