International Solar Alliance on Wednesday held the curtain-raiser for the 6th session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly, scheduled to be held from October 30-November 2.
At the event in Delhi, RK Singh, Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy and the President of the ISA, said the rate of growth of renewable capacity in the country has perhaps been one of the highest in the world, if not the highest. The association has been working on various projects to ensure affordable access to solar power around the world.
“The challenge lies in the 750 million people who do not have access. But the most important contribution that we want to make, which we need to get, is to make sure that investment goes to these countries.
And to do that, we have decided to set up a fund that will provide security for these investors,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, said the ISA has organised several programmes to tackle the issues of affordable finance and technical expertise in various countries. “India remains steadfast in its commitment for the expansion and strengthening of the International Solar Alliance.”
Ajay Mathur, Director General of the International Solar Alliance, said new projects such as Solar for She and the Green Hydrogen Innovation Programme are being organised to ensure the benefits reach many.
