Samay Raina has become one of the most Googled names in India across the past week for the wrong reasons. The comedian-influencer who landed in legal trouble and faced a huge backlash when podcast host Ranveer Allahabadia made a rather crass joke about Indian parents on his show ‘India’s Got Latent’ appears unfazed by the controversy.

Raina, who was holding a live performance at the Myer Horowitz Theatre in Edmonton, Canada, made lighthearted jokes about a very grim situation. In a video shared by a fan on Facebook, he wittily remarks, “Thanks for paying my lawyer’s fee!”
When someone from the audience tried to take a potshot at him, he retorted, «There will be many moments in this show where you might expect me to say something really funny. But just remember BeerBiceps at those times.» He concluded the performance with, «Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon,» translating to, «Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember my friends—I am time itself.»
After the offensive comment made by Allahbadia went viral, Raia deleted all the videos of his show on YouTube. He took to X and wrote, “«Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time.»
The controversy has ignited a debate on the limits of comedy and freedom of expression.
