Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, recently lauded the creative ingenuity of Sudhir Bhave, an elderly engineer from Gujarat known for his unique cycle designs. In a heartfelt post on X, Mahindra not only praised Bhave's «irrepressible creativity and energy» but also offered him access to the Mahindra workshop in Vadodara for his experiments.
Bhave, a retired mechanical engineer, has a passion for designing cycles with innovative features. His creations include cycles modified for workouts, such as those with rollers for upper body exercises, and an electric cycle that can be ridden manually if the battery runs out. In a video shared by Mahindra, Bhave elaborated on his hobby and showcased his unique designs.
Despite not having his own workshop, Bhave continues to pursue his passion by using available workshops. «It takes around a month to complete work on one cycle,» Bhave explained. «I do not have a specific target. My worker and I take up a project whenever we have time.»
Mahindra, impressed by Bhave's skills and dedication, shared his story with his followers. «I bow low to Sudhir Bhave’s irrepressible creativity and energy,» Mahindra wrote.
«Sudhir has shown that innovation and startup spirit in India are not just for the young! If you want to use the workshop of our Vadodara factory for your experiments, do let me know. No Sudhir, you are not ‘retired.’ You are in the most active and innovative period of your life.»
