Ubisoft's next addition to the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, was initially planned as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla but has now become a standalone game. Here's what you need to know.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will launch on October 5, 2023, one week earlier than initially announced, available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Mirage is set in Baghdad during 870-860 BCE after the Anarchy of Samarra. The city of Baghdad will be divided into four districts, and players will also visit Alamut, the Hidden Ones' fortress. The story revolves around a young Assassin named Basim Ibn Ishaq, initially a thief who joins the Hidden Ones, with inspiration drawn from the Prince of Persia.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage offers a more compact experience compared to recent open-world games in the series. It focuses on stealth rather than exploration. The game introduces an improved detection system for stealth encounters and re-introduces classic parkour moves like the corner swing, with faster freerunning than in previous titles.
In a return to the series' roots, Mirage follows the format of the original Assassin’s Creed game, alternating between missions at the Alamut fortress and assassination missions. Assassination contracts, a feature from earlier entries, make a comeback, featuring smarter AI for increased difficulty.
Regarding post-launch content, Creative Director Stéphane Boudon has stated that there are no current plans for AC Mirage DLC.
