Barclays Bank customers grappling with a disrupted online experience, rendering the app and web services inaccessible for many users. As individuals attempted to access their accounts today, numerous customers encountered difficulties logging in, checking balances, and initiating transactions, as the financial provider's digital platforms faced substantial disruptions.
The problems surfaced earlier this morning, October 17, and have persisted, causing a surge in grievances from affected users.
Down Detector, an online outage monitor, has recorded an escalating influx of complaints, tallying up to approximately 2,000 reports at its peak.
Expressing frustration, one Barclays customer named Shelley shared on the Down Detector forum page, «App not working, PC not working, even Barclays' own service status not working! We expect better Barclays!» Another user, Irving, echoed similar sentiments, stating, «App not working, online banking page not working, status page not working...grrr!»
Despite the growing discontent among customers, the exact cause of the disruption remains uncertain. Barclays has acknowledged the ongoing issues and assured its customers that its IT team is diligently addressing the problem.
In an official statement addressing the situation, Barclays stated, «If you're having problems logging into our app or Online Banking right now — we're sorry,» indicating that they are actively working towards resolving the technical glitch and restoring full functionality to their online banking services.
