Last year, Capps had decided to prepare for the Bassmaster Classic and work hard to qualify for the tournament. The Muskogee native was finally able to achieve the target as he went on to earn a spot in the Bassmaster Elite Series, News On 6 reported.
«I want to be a professional fisherman,» Capps earlier wrote in a first-grade time capsule assignment, the local news outlet said.
As his classmates opened the capsules during high school, they were happy to find out that Capps' dream had actually become a reality.

Competition begins at Bassmaster Classic 2025
The first day of Bassmaster Classic 2025 started early on Friday, with more than 50 anglers from around the United States competing for the title.
Among them is reigning champion Justin Hamner, who hails from Northport, Alabama.
Bassmaster Classic 2025: Prize money
The dozens of candidates taking part in the tournament are eying for the trophy as well as the prize money of $300,000 prize.
The winner also gets to mark his name into the history books of bass fishing.

The three-day tournament officially went underway on Friday and will go on till Sunday, March 23.
It is being organised at Lake Ray Roberts in Fort Worth, Texas.
