Bengaluru mall sparked outrage online after the authorities refused to grant entry to an elderly farmer who was dressed in a traditional dhoti-kurta. Recently, an entrepreneur revealed that he and his friend were denied entry to an upscale Bengaluru restaurant because they wore slippers instead of proper shoes.
Taking to X on Wednesday, Ganesh Sonawane, the CEO of founder of shoewear brand Frido revealed that he had gone to the eatery with his friend and fellow entrepreneur, Ather co-founder Swapnil Jain. However, both of them were denied entry as they did not adhere to the dress code: Shoes. Both of them were wearing slippers so had to return shamefacedly.
“True story: Swapnil, Ather co-founder, and I had once gone to a restaurant in Bengaluru and were denied entry because of wearing slippers instead of shoes,” wrote Sonawane on X.
Although Sonawane did not specify when or where the incident occurred, he admitted feeling «stupid» but clarified that he doesn't consider it «discrimination.» After being denied entry, they simply went to another restaurant.
For the unversed, the incident involving the farmer Fakeerappa became a viral sensation on the Internet after his son Nagaraj captured the incident on camera and released it online. “We had come to GT Mall to watch a movie. We came here at 6 pm, but the security guards said they wouldn't let us in because my father was wearing a dhoti. If they don't allow people wearing dhotis to enter, how will I take him inside? The guards said they had to abide by the rules
