SAG Actors. The film festival will hold a 'Special Program in Focus: Korean Diasporic Cinema'. It will screen six films, and organize public talk sessions that include Oscar-winning actor Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Isaac Chung, director of the Oscar-winning film 'Minari', and John Cho, the Seoul-born Star Trek' and 'Searching' stars. Chon, Yeun and Yoo Teo, director of Sundance sensation 'Past Lives', Han Yeri and Christina Oh will join them.
The actors will have to adhere to certain restrictions while participating in these programs. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, actors John Cho and Steven Yeun are not allowed to participate in the guest visits. The festival warned that these actors can not respond to nor comment on any questions related to American films and TV series they starred in during any festival events.
But the Busan Film Festival has allowed certain exceptions. Yeun can interact and discuss the 2018 drama 'Burning' because it was a Korean production. Similarly, the SAG has given some waivers to the Celine Song-directed 'Past Lives' backed by A24 and Korea’s CJ ENM. They have been permitted to pose questions regarding these 2 films during festival events. They can also attend the guest visits.
