Uniform Civil Code (UCC) were renewed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi vouched for the same during his recent address in Bhopal. The committee formed by the Uttarakhand government for preparing the draft of UCC has also submitted its report to the state government and it is being said that the Centre might also use the same draft.
The statement from the Nagaland government also commented on the issue of Naga peace talks and said the issue should be resolved and settled at the earliest as it is been dragging for “an unreasonable period of time". On the proposal by the Centre to form an autonomous council called the Frontier Naga Territory which will cover the six eastern districts of Nagaland, KG Kenye said that the negotiations are on the verge of conclusion.
“This period will outline the roadmap defining the ultimate status and structure of the new entity. It will henceforth be tripartite and include the state government for all purposes and at every stage in the approach to find a detailed and final tripartite agreement," Kenye stated.
