vaping during a parliamentary session focused on healthcare reform. Cathy Juvinao, a member of the Green Alliance Party representing Bogotá, was seen using a vape pen moments before she was scheduled to address the legislative body. The event took place on December 17, as Juvinao prepared to address the legislative body regarding proposed changes to the country's health policy. The footage quickly went viral, prompting significant backlash from the public and media alike.
The video shows Juvinao taking a drag from her bright yellow vape pen before realizing she was being recorded by cameras in the parliamentary chamber. She quickly exhaled and hid the device, but not before her actions were captured on film.
Juvinao responded to the backlash by issuing an apology on X formerly known as Twitter. In her statement, she acknowledged her lapse in judgment and vowed not to repeat the behavior. She wrote: «I will not join the bad example that is intoxicating the public discourse these days and which will not be repeated.»
