The Women Vote
On January 27, as AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal unveiled the party's manifesto with 15 guarantees, he signed an A3 size undertaking promising women that the first decision of his new government will be a monthly financial support of ₹2,100 for them. If AAP has promised ₹2,100, BJP and Congress have both promised ₹2,500 a month to women. The three major players have kept women at the centre of their agenda.
Voting Percentage
The ECI has been battling urban apathy across India. This is clearly reflected in the declining voter turnout. This time, it has kept the election on a weekday in the middle of a working week to ensure better turnout. In Delhi, the voter turnout has been declining steadily — it was 67.12% in 2015 and 62.59% in 2020. Traditionally, a high voter turnout is deciphered as a vote against the government. In this Delhi election, it will all boil down to which party's voters come out and cast the vote.
