Showtime has revealed the cast for its upcoming prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, featuring Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater and Molly Brown. The series will explore the origins of Dexter Morgan, focusing on his early years.
Cast
Patrick Gibson, known for his roles in Shadow and Bone, The OA, Good Girl Jane, and Property of the State, will portray the young Dexter Morgan. Christian Slater, who has starred in Mr. Robot, Dr. Death, Dirty John, True Romance, Unfrosted, and The Spiderwick Chronicles, will play Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father. Molly Brown, with credits in Senior Year, Evil, Billions, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, will take on the role of Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sister.
Plot
Originally ordered to series in February 2023 and initially titled Dexter: Origins, the prequel is set in 1991 Miami. The story follows Dexter Morgan, played by Gibson, as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. Under the guidance of his father Harry, portrayed by Slater, Dexter learns to follow a Code that allows him to kill without being caught by law enforcement. During this time, he also starts a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
