Goa has become the first state in India to introduce a QR code system for tourists travelling with vehicles. This new initiative aims to make travel smoother by reducing repeated document checks.
When tourists enter Goa with their vehicles, traffic police will check their documents. Once verified, a QR code will be generated, which remains valid for 12 hours. If they are stopped again, they can simply show the QR code instead of going through another round of document verification.

So far, Goa Police have issued around 4,000 QR codes to tourists to help them avoid unnecessary checks and enjoy their holiday without hassle.
Speaking to TOI, crime branch SP Rahul Gupta said, “Goa Police have introduced the Quick Pass mobile application for traffic officials. This app is designed to make traffic compliance easier and reduce inconvenience for motorists.”
He added, “The app generates a QR code, which is sent as an SMS to law-abiding travellers. If they are stopped again for routine checks, they can show this QR code. This makes document verification quicker and allows smooth movement of vehicles while ensuring compliance with traffic rules.”
The app also includes advanced features such as real-time traffic data analysis, geotagging, and hotspot mapping
