United States space agency 'Nasa' has captured the visuals of a galaxy which is 17 million light years away from earth. The agency has termed the galaxy as 'Evil Eye.'
The image which is shared by Nasa shows a bright yellow nucleus of a galaxy which is shinning brightly amongst dark dust in brown and orange.
There are blue and purple dots swirling around the galaxy’s center.
«It was first catalogued in the 18th century by the French astronomer Messier. Located in the northern constellation Coma Berenices, M64 resides roughly 17 million light-years from Earth,» said Nasa in the statement it has released.
The galaxy captured has been given the nickname 'evil Eye' because of the spectacular dark band of absorbing dust in front of the galaxy’s bright nucleus.
The image was captured by Nasa's Hubble telescope which explores the universe for every minute
One of the differentiating characteristic of 'Evil Eye' galaxy is its bizarre internal motion.
«The gas in the outer regions of this remarkable galaxy is rotating in the opposite direction from the gas and stars in its inner regions. This strange behavior can be attributed to a merger between M64 and a satellite galaxy over a billion years ago,» said Nasa through its statement.
