World Cup, India Inc is warming up to bring cricket fever to the workplace.
Companies including Godrej & Boyce, Physics Wallah, Urban Company, Shiprocket, The Sleep Company, Simpl, VideoVerse and TheMathCompany have plans to screen matches, with some going beyond to organise World Cup-themed contests, reward employees with passes to some matches, and curate special menus on match days, among other initiatives.
The idea is to not only boost employee engagement in office, but also to foster camaraderie, a shared love of sports and positive work culture, HR heads of these firms said.
Startup The Sleep Company is promoting fitness and team spirit by organising an inter-department cricket tournament — 'The Sleep Company Mini-World Cup Series' — said its HR head, Alisha Sanghvi. High-performing store employees will also be rewarded with tickets for matches held in Mumbai, she told ET. Edtech startup Physics Wallah is arranging some passes for the India-Afghanistan clash in New Delhi, said its CHRO Satish Khengre.
Another initiative on the cards is curated special menus, as at engineering solutions company Godrej & Boyce and payment service provider Simpl. «We are also encouraging employees to sport Team India's jersey on match days,» said Sneha Arora, CHRO of Simpl.
The World Cup will be held in India from October 5 to November 19. Most of the matches will start at 2.00 pm. While employees watching
