According to Express US, since their deployment in the month of November, an estimated 11,000 North Korean troops were sent to assist the Russian forces in the Kursk region. However, during such ongoing times, the Ukrainian special forces have not observed any North Koreans for approximately three weeks now while leading to numerous speculations about their potential withdrawal.
US officials are corroborating these reports while attributing that the absence of the North Korean troops is due to the significant losses sustained during the combat. Reported estimates are suggesting that near about 1,000 of the North Korean troops might have been killed with further casualties still reported, asserted Express US.
In spite of their severe commitment and sheer willingness to fight fiercely, the North Korean troops have extremely struggled with the outdated equipment and poor tactics which have contributed to their high casualty rates.
The Ukrainian soldiers who encountered the North Korean troops described them adequately skilled but at the same time, they are very poorly coordinated with Russian units. Thus, the North Korean troops often operated independently and then faced severe challenges in adapting to the battlefield conditions, noted Express US.
