
'Hum Honge Kangal Ek Din': Kunal Kamra releases new satirical video taking a dig at Shiv Sena protestors
Kunal Kamra has released a new video titled Hum Honge Kangal on Instagram, following his refusal to apologise for a joke about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The video, a parody of the song Hum Honge Kamyab, features visuals of Shiv Sena workers vandalizing the India Habitat venue, where Kamra had performed.
Kunal Kamra Refuses to Apologise
Kamra has been facing continuous threats from Shiv Sena leaders after calling Shinde a «gaddar» (traitor) during a recent performance at Mumbai's Habitat Studio. The remark led to protests and vandalism by Shinde's Shiv Sena party workers at the venue.
On social media, Kamra responded by stating, «I will not apologise.» He criticised the vandalism and questioned whether the law would apply equally to all. «An entertainment venue is merely a platform…Habitat (or any other venue) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control over what I say or do. Neither does any political party,» he said. Kamra added, «However, I am willing to co-operate with the police and courts for any lawful action taken against me. But will the law be fairly and equally deployed against those who have decided that vandalism is the appropriate response to being offended by a joke?»
Maharashtra Government Announces Probe
Maharashtra’s junior home minister, Yogesh Kadam, announced an investigation into Kamra’s call records and financial transactions. “Call recordings along with CDRs, as well as bank statements of comedian Kunal Kamra, will also be checked. We will find out who is behind this,” Kadam stated.
