Relative calm after surge of immigrants
In recent times, the border crackdown and different other kinds of operations are helping in the cutting down the entry of illegal immigrants into the United States. There was a peak surge of immigrants from the Texas border since 2021, which has now come to a better condition, but could worsen at anytime, looking at any geopolitical changes south of the border.

Immigration top issue in elections, feel Americans
American voters are of the opinion that immigration numbers should be reduced, and the 'open border' with Mexico apparently creates major issues of debate between the Democrats and the Republicans. Moreover, after President Biden introduced major asylum restrictions in June, immigration numbers took a dive, helping the immigration reduction concern in the longer run.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump had previously talked about increasing immigration into the country, so that the best and the brightest could come and be a part of the nation-building, a statement that had otherwise received mixed response. However, he had also claimed that there would be due prior screening and detailing before entry into the United States, which would be seriously looked after by the Federal agencies, in the case he came to power at the White House.
