Delhi Police has clarified that Delhi is not closed, but only a small part of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area will be subjected to restrictions during the event. This announcement comes as a response to concerns regarding the misinterpretation and miscommunication of the restrictions by certain news agencies, leading to confusion among the public.
In an official statement, Delhi Police urged news agencies to ensure accurate reporting, aligning with their advisories to eliminate any potential ambiguity.
The G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled to occur from September 9 to 10 at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, located at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
While commercial activities will remain suspended from September 8 to 10 in the New Delhi district, essential services such as medical shops, hospitals, milk booths, and other vital services falling under the essential category will continue to operate. However, it's worth noting that all online delivery services, except for medicines, will be temporarily suspended during the G20 Summit, as previously announced by the Delhi Police.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav said that essential services like postal and medical services, along with sample collections by path labs, will be allowed to function throughout Delhi.
In the New Delhi area, commercial activities will be restricted, but the delivery of medicines will remain unaffected. Valid permissions granted for essential services will be honored during this period.
