Mumbai: In another tragic hit-and-run incident, a woman tragically lost her life after a BMW collided with the bike she was riding with her husband early on Sunday morning.
According to a report from TOI, the couple, residents of Worli, Mumbai, were heading to fetch fish when the accident occurred. The collision was so severe that the 45-year-old woman was thrown onto the car's bonnet. Rather than stopping, the driver continued for approximately 100 metres before fleeing the scene.
The injured woman was rushed to Nair Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The incident occurred around 5:30 am between Atria Mall and the beginning of the coastal road on the same stretch. Sources told TOI that the BMW was travelling at high speed when it struck the couple's bike. The impact caused the husband to fall to the side with his bike, while his wife was thrown onto the car's bonnet.
Police sources informed TOI that there were two individuals in the car at the time of the incident. «We have detained the driver and are searching for the other person,» stated a police officer. The car has been seized, and authorities will notify the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to conduct a thorough examination.
Initial reports suggested that the driver may have been a minor, but police clarified that, based on their information, this was not the case.
