China’s fast expanding economic footprint across the Arab world, with a focus on opportunities in various sectors, including healthcare, retail and infrastructure. The sixth edition of the conference is also aimed at promoting a multidirectional flow of investment and facilitating investment in areas of new opportunities, officials said.
Addressing the conference MoS External Affairs V Muraleedharan said, “There are growing investments from both sides, with a clear vision of shared success and prosperity. Our wide-ranging partnership with Arab countries encompasses every aspect of human endeavour – from food & energy to financial services to health & education, Information Technology & renewable energy, Start-ups and large infrastructure projects.
A new thrust to our economic engagement is being provided through entrepreneurship, science and technological collaboration, environmental protection and greater focus on food and energy security.” The conference is being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in partnership with the external affairs ministry, with the support of the League of Arab States. It will see the presence of ministerial, official and business delegations from various participating countries.
The key countries from where participation is expected are Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordon, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Authority, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. The Arab world is part of India’s extended neighbourhood.
