India could have enforced the follow on, such was their dominance, but there was no need to, with all the time in the world left in the Test match. At 81 for 3, a lead of 308, with plenty of batting to come there really is only one way this Test match is headed.
Ravichandran Ashwin only pushed on to 113 but Ravindra Jadeja missing a century, nicking off on 86, was the highlight of the morning. India pushed on to 376, a score that looked unlikely at one stage, but they then made it count.
Jasprit Bumrah set the tone in the first over, changing his angle of attack and going around the stumps to trigger the off pole of Shadman Islam. This was not unexpected, given that the surface offered a little help to quick bowlers operating with the hard new ball.
But Akash Deep, on debut, was a revelation. He targeted the stumps mercilessly and his angles accounted for Zakir Hasan and Nominal Haque. The 27-year-old celebrated wildly each time and this was understandable given he was playing a Test match and putting his country on top.
