Boston University, and University of California, Berkeley, have claimed that humility goes a long way when it comes to physical and mental well-being. While the popular sentiment is that humble people have a good psychological adjustment, a section of people still believe that lack of this virtue doesn't make a difference.CRED founder Kunal Shah took to Twitter on Thursday to share his understanding of the quality, especially in successful people. In his post, the avid Twitter user said that Eastern cultures emphasise on the importance of humility in comparison to Western societies.
Sharing his views, the 44-year-old expressed his concerns over the «need» for humility in people. «Unlike Western societies where humility isn't always expected from those who achieve success, it appears to be a strong expectation in Eastern cultures. I wonder if our need from people to be down to earth keeps them 'down to earth',» he tweeted.
His post got a lot of traction on the social media platform with more than 60K views. Later in the day, Shah also dropped a poll for his nearly 815K followers on the micro-blogging site. He asked his fans how their parents feel about them with three options to select from — proud, indifferent and disappointed.
The two-day poll has so far received almost 7,200 votes with one day left for more people to share their responses. Meanwhile, based on a preliminary study, American Psychological Association claims that people with humility display more confidence and leadership quality. In fact, it is believed, humility can be learnt.
