Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will face each other for the first time on Tuesday night in a debate that may be their only one. It offers a critical chance for both to present their contrasting visions after a chaotic campaign season. Americans will get a clearer picture of how the race has shifted since the previous debate in June.
This debate follows Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race in July, endorsing Harris. Biden’s exit came after facing backlash from Democrats due to his performance in the June debate. Harris now has a rare chance to present herself as a steady hand for the future.
The debate is scheduled to start at 6:30 am IST (9 pm ET) on September 11. The debate will take place at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center.
David Muir, anchor of «World News Tonight,» and Linsey Davis, anchor of ABC News Live «Prime,» will moderate the debate.
Updated regulations by ABC News will see candidates’ microphones muted when it’s not their turn to speak. Only moderators will ask questions. A coin toss determined closing statements and podium placements, with Trump delivering the final closing statement and Harris choosing her podium position. The debate will not feature opening statements, and candidates will have two minutes for answers and rebuttals.
