«Investigation is starting now. An inquiry will start in the afternoon… It is an automatic signal territory and if the signals are not working, the drivers need to follow a procedure. What mistakes have happened, that will come out of the investigation,» Garg said. The Station Master of Rangapani will also be questioned. Meanwhile, train services in both up and downlines have been normalized from today morning.
«All records and authorities that were provided have been sealed. We will do the enquiry,» Garg said. “After completion of enquiry, responsibility will be fixed. When an automatic signal does not work, authority is given to cross the signals After giving authority, how speed was increased, needs to be investigated. What had happened will be investigated. The Commissioner of Railways Safety will start a probe in Rangapani. The Railways authority has admitted that the automated signalling system was not working.
Rangapani Station Master had given a paperline channel as the automated signal was not working from the morning, sources said.
The Commissioner will talk with the Station Master, locals, passengers and others during the probe.
