Arun Ramchandani, Executive Vice-President, L&T Defence, says “we have got a few good breakthrough orders this year. We see a lot of interest in our products, mainly in the artillery systems. A lot of them are in fire control systems, some of the defence electronics, upgrading of a lot of legacy weapon systems are there around the world. We see the potential for exports to grow as a percentage of our order book.”
Let us talk about your order book position in the defence space and how the contribution is rising over the years from 3.8%. What kind of visibility do you have for major orders in the pipeline?
The defence order book is looking very healthy.
We are quite hopeful that we will scale up this order book to about one and a half times of what it is today. We have three contracts under discussion and under finalisation. Once we have that, we will be in a good position with a growing order book.
We started off with a healthy order book at the beginning of the year and we have added a couple of good contracts. Now we are seeing significant growth in the order book.
If I talk about the export opportunity in your business segment, what kind of export potential do you foresee?
We have got a few good breakthrough orders this year. We see a lot of interest in our products, mainly in the artillery systems.
A lot of them are in fire control systems, some of the defence electronics, upgrading of a lot of legacy weapon systems are there around the world. We see the potential for exports to grow as a percentage of our order book. We are having interactions with a lot of countries which have been visiting our facilities and looking at sourcing equipment from us.
