Her comments come at a time when issues of manpower rationalisation and cost cuts have been dominating boardroom conversations globally with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Stressing on the importance of maintaining balance, Manasi—who is married to Neville, son of Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata—said, “We have to be conscious as a company and as an industry, be aware of the fact that we do need technology to improve efficiencies, (as it) helps us with our costs, productivity. But at the same time, we also need to support the growing workforce.”
“A million people will be added every month for the next 15-20 years. So, we have to support the economy as well,” said Tata, daughter of late Vikram Kirloskar, former vice chairman of Toyota Kirloskar.
She said Toyota Motor and India’s Kirloskar Group are collaborating on building a local automotive ecosystem with a strong supplier base through deepening investments, advancing clean technologies and workforce skilling to contribute to and benefit from India’s journey to become a global mobility hub.
