Mean Girls' is ready to hit the screen. Paramount has released its first trailer. The infamous Regina George has been portrayed by Renee Rapp ('The Sex Lives of College Girls'). Casts include Auli’i Cravalho ('Moana'), Angourie Rice ('Mare of Easttown'), Christopher Briney ('The Summer I Turned Pretty') and Jaquel Spivey ('A Strange Loop').
Rice has portrayed Cady Heron, the new girl at school who is taken in by Janis and Damian. These characters are played by Cravalho and Spivey respectively. Janis and Damian ask Cady to find a place in the school’s queen bees, known as the Plastics. On the contrary, she falls for Regina’s boyfriend Aaron Samuels, played by Briney. She soon finds herself entrenched in the lives of the most popular girls in school.
Tina Fey and Tim Meadows will return for this adaptation and they will be joined by Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Avantika, Mahi Alam, Bebe Wood, Ashley Park, Connor Ratliff and Jon Hamm. He is also the screenwriter and producer for this rendition. Earlier, he wrote both the 2004 movie and the stage musical.
Lorna Mitchells is also producing with Fey. Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne have directed it. The music is by Jeff Richmond with lyrics from Nell Benjamin.
'Mean Girls' will premiere in theaters on January 12, 2024. It was originally planned for a streaming debut on Paramount+ before moving to a theatrical release.
