Mumbai Traffic Police has issued an advisory ahead of the Muharram procession scheduled for Tuesday, urging residents to follow the suggested routes and diversions to avoid congestion. The advisory outlines specific road closures and alternative routes as a significant number of participants are expected.
According to the advisory, the «Shab a Sahadat» Muharram procession will start at 4:00 PM, beginning at P. Ismail Merchant Chowk (Nesbit Junction) and proceeding through Sofia Zuber Junction, Sir J.J. Junction, Mhd. Ali Marg, Pakmodia Street, and ending at Zainabia Hall. The traffic police have warned of potential congestion along these routes. Residents are advised to avoid the JJ bridge after 5:30 PM and use P D'Mello Road and N.S. Road as alternatives.
1.) Closed Route: Mohammad Ali Road (Bhendi Bazar Junction) to Sir J.J. Junction (North and Southbound)
Alternative Routes: For eastbound travel from Bhendi Bazar Junction: Use SVP Road or Y.M. Road via P D'Mello Road.
For northbound travel: Use SVP Road, Gol Deul Junction, Don Taki Junction, Duccan Road, Nagpada Junction, Claire Road, Khadaparshi Junction, B.J. Road, Ghodke Chowk, N.M. Joshi Road, and Chinchpokli Junction.
2.) Closed Route: Sir J.J. Road — J.J. Junction to Khadaparshi Junction (Northbound)
Alternative Routes: From Sophiya Jubair Road: Use Nagpada Junction to Ghodke Chowk, N.M. Joshi Road, and Chinchpokli Junction.
