When energized particles from the sun hit Earth's upper atmosphere at 45 million mph or 72 million kph, Earth's magnetic field redirects the particles toward the poles. These particles appear in the form of these patterns. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is called Aurora Australis.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center, has said that the geomagnetic storm can be watched on July 24, 2024. The Northern Lights will most likely be seen between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. ET on this day.
According to 'Forbes', it can be watched best from as south as New York and Idaho because the upcoming northern lights will be a result of a G2-class geomagnetic storm. People in the US states of Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Montana, Minnesota, and the northernmost part of New York and Maine can see it.
