NTPC Ltd, it's arm NTPC Green Energy, Coal India and NLC India on Sunday signed separate memoranda of understanding with
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd for setting up thermal and renewable energy projects.
The MoU between NTPC & RVUNL was signed to explore opportunities for adding supercritical units to the existing Chhabra thermal power plant. The companies aim to implement measures to enhance efficiency and reduce the generation cost of the plant's existing units.
The MoU between NTPC Green Energy Ltd and RVUNL entails the development of renewable energy projects and green hydrogen derivatives up to 25 GW and 1 million tonnes, respectively in the state.
NTPC is looking to expand its non-fossil based capacity to 45-50% of the company’s portfolio that will include 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032 with a total portfolio of 130 GW.
Coal India Ltd also signed MoUs with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for setting up 5 projects, including setting up 1,600 MW pit-head thermal power plant,
2,000 MW of solar units, 200 MW of pump storage project at Jawahar Sagar, 250 MW solar project at Banswara and 50 MW wind unit at the Ramgarh gas project in Jaisalmer.
NLC India signed the pact to set up 125 MW lignite based unit and 1,000 MW solar power plant.
