Following the rally, SDM Srestha Gunsola summoned Abdul Nazim, who is believed to own the property, to clarify the building's status. Gunsola noted that the land ownership issue is under review in a court.
The house was originally owned by Abdul Mazid, who relocated to Haldwani before his death, with ownership transferring to his son, Nazim. Nazim has been instructed to respond to the summons within 15 days, clarifying ownership and his knowledge of the house's activities.
The Rashtriya Sewa Sangh, leading the protest, alleges illegal conversion of the house into a religious site, causing disturbances in the neighborhood. Himanshu Joshi, the group's president, stated that gatherings for prayers are disruptive, demanding the site be closed and demolished.
Authorities have lifted prohibitory orders imposed in Berinag town after a right wing group staged a protest over a house allegedly being used as a mosque, an official on Monday said. Additional force deployed in the area in the wake of the protest was also recalled.
