ABC Chief Business, Economics, and Technology Correspondent announced on Wednesday's Good Morning America that she and husband Matt Hanson had their second child together, son Leo.
Their infant boy, born through surrogacy, joins big sister Isabel Noemi, 4½.
The delighted couple also shared two exclusive images of their infant including one in which Isabel kissed her younger brother on the cheek while her father nursed the baby.
The journalist said that her path to pregnancy had not been simple, explaining that she had struggled with infertility and had done multiple rounds of IVF.
Despite their reservations about embarking on the surrogacy adventure, Jarvis and her husband discussed it extensively and concluded it was something they wanted to undertake.
Jarvis describes her pain after losing each pregnancy by saying she was holding her breath every step of the way.
“So even during the surrogacy, I really did hold my breath for a very long time,” she cried.
“And I probably didn't want to feel that massive excitement and massive joy until I really felt it was truly a sure thing, to protect myself and my family.” She further stated that she finally allowed herself to feel that way, according to her “it was the nicest feeling ever.”
Hanson added that she also received solid counsel on how to overcome some of her concerns about surrogacy.
The parents described the first time they saw Leo as «magical,» recalling how thrilled they were to finally meet their baby boy.
Jarvis and Hanson remember severing their son's umbilical cord, which Hanson says he'll «never forget.»
The family of four appeared on Good Morning America via satellite to celebrate their wonderful news.
