The NSE Nifty index traded 117.0 points up at 21634.35, while BSE Sensex was up 440.35 points at 71796.95 as of 10:39AM(IST)on January 04.
In the Nifty index, NTPC Ltd.(up 3.44 per cent), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 3.20 per cent), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 2.58 per cent), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 2.44 per cent) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 2.28 per cent) were among the top gainers.
On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.46 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.28 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.76 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.70 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.60 per cent) were among the top losers.
