Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises
Want to take exposure to a sector which grows much faster than GDP
Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(up 17.33%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(up 8.06%), KKV Agro Powers Ltd.(up 5.65%), SJVN Ltd.(up 5.35%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 4.99%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(up 4.60%), NLC India Ltd.(up 3.70%), Inox Wind Ltd.(up 3.67%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(up 3.56%) and PTC India Ltd.(up 3.40%) were among the top gainers.
Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 3.40%), Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 1.57%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(down 1.01%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(down 0.94%), Adani Green Energy Ltd.(down 0.91%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(down 0.56%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 0.32%) were among the top losers.
The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 163.46 points up at 21402.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 516.68 points at 70887.23 at around 10:34AM.
Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 4.11%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.82%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 2.61%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 2.23%), State Bank of India(up 2.22%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 2.08%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.93%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(up 1.88%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 1.81%) and Coal India Ltd.(up 1.78%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.96%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.96%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.73%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.53%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.28%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.13%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.12%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.12%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.1%) were trading in the red.
