Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.88%
Shares of Tata Motors Ltd.(up 4.73 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(up 1.72 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.38 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.74 per cent) and MRF Ltd.(up 0.37 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.15 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.06 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.5 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.38 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.26 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.88 per cent up at 16444.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 42.95 points at 19751.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 125.65 points at 66282.74.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, MMTC, Indian Railway Fin, SJVN and IFCI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Jai Corp, GFL Ltd., ITI Ltd, HSIL and Sky Gold hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rajesh Exports, Winsome Yarns, Diamines Chem, Nakoda Group Of Ind and V Mart Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
