Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.02%
Shares of Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.27 per cent), MRF Ltd.(up 1.22 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.84 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.48 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.43 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bosch Ltd.(down 1.63 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.57 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 0.63 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 0.1 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.05 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.02 per cent up at 16522.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 79.75 points at 19811.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 261.16 points at 66428.09.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, Suzlon Energy, JP Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of KIOCL, Keynote Financial, Cinevista Ltd, FACT and TRF Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gensol Engg, Winsome Yarns, Tatva Chintan Pharm, V Mart Retail and Xelpmoc Design hit their fresh 52-week lows.
